There is no single “best” Dynamic FPS configuration because the useful limit depends on how you use Minecraft. A player who alt-tabs for a few seconds needs a different balance from someone who leaves the client idle for long periods.
Start conservative
Begin with moderate background limits so you can verify that switching away and returning feels smooth. Once the behavior is stable, reduce background rendering further if your system benefits.
Separate unfocused and idle behavior
Unfocused does not always mean abandoned. A short alt-tab may deserve a higher responsiveness level, while a long idle timeout can use more aggressive savings.
Use audio controls intentionally
If background Minecraft audio is distracting, lower it by state rather than muting the entire operating system. This preserves a predictable foreground experience when you return.
Laptop and battery use
On portable systems, battery-aware behavior can be more valuable than chasing foreground benchmark numbers. The goal is to avoid spending power on frames you are not watching.

- Test with a minimal mod set if behavior is unclear.
Test with your modpack
Rendering and performance mods can interact. Change one setting group at a time and test several focus transitions before deciding the configuration is stable.
Avoid unrealistic targets
A “1000 FPS mod” expectation is the wrong way to evaluate Dynamic FPS. Watch CPU/GPU activity, heat, fan noise and foreground responsiveness instead.
